Jim A. Lund joined Tweed Financial Services, Inc. in 2005. Jim oversees client acquisition and will be assisting clients with the analysis of investment tax issues and 1031 exchanges. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Jim has extensive experience in retirement planning, and investment analysis and portfolio development. He has spent more than 15 years assisting public sector and non-profit employees establish, fund and invest tax-deferred retirement savings. Jim’s knowledge of tax preparation and the tax implications of financial transactions has played a crucial role in solving complex tax issues and enabling individuals to minimize and defer capital gains taxes. A native of southern California, he is very familiar with local real estate markets, laws impacting real estate investments, 1031 exchanges and with the dilemmas faced by property owners. “My job is to help our clients optimize the after-tax return they realize from their investments,” explains Jim. “Typically that involves a mix of financial planning, tax analysis and investment suitability, which is a good fit with my experience and training.” 1031 exchanges allow businesses and individuals to defer the recognition of the capital gains or other taxes associated with the sale of most business or investment assets, as long as new assets are purchased to replace the existing assets. Most tax deferred exchanges are structured either as a real property or a personal property exchange. Real property exchanges include only interests in real property, while personal property exchanges encompass virtually all other types of property. As well as being a CFP, Jim holds his Series 7, 63 and 24 FINRA licenses. ![]()
